Matte gel medium is convenient if you want to reduce the gloss of acrylic paint and give it a soft finish. It makes the paint more transparent and matte, which is useful if a more refined, non-reflective finish is needed, or if you are applying layers over each other to achieve shadows, contrasts, or textural effects. When mixed with acrylic paints, you can achieve depth and coverage similar to oil paint. You can also mix matte and glossy mediums in equal parts to achieve a satin effect. If used alone, it retains its viscosity and dries to a semi-transparent matte depending on the applied thickness. When mixed with acrylic, the gel medium increases the amount of paint and improves its flowability, almost without changing the qualities of the base paint, only "dampening" its gloss. The suggested mixing ratio is 1 part medium to 4 parts paint, but you can experiment with other ratios for different results. If you need to mix different colors, do it beforehand, and then add the medium in the proportion you need. The drying time can vary depending on the amount of medium used and environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, etc. Use in your creative projects on various surfaces like canvas, wood, MDF, papier-mâché, ceramics, styrofoam, a wide variety of which you will find on our site in the form of different objects for decorating – boxes, vases, candle holders, trays, napkin holders, clock bases, and many more.

WE RECOMMEND: Test separately before applying to the final product. You can use gel medium matte with various texture pastes by mixing in a ratio of 1 part medium to 2 parts paste, thus avoiding cracking or brittleness of the paste after drying. Note that this product extends, but not excessively, the drying time. When used alone, it dries to a semi-transparent matte. Clean your hands and tools promptly with WARM water and soap. Protect from freezing and direct sunlight.
